After reading an article about plastic water bottles in my latest Surfriders Foundation Newsletter, I feel compelled to join in the mission and pass this very important message and challenge along..........

Please take the time to click on this link and read the short article with loads of astonishing facts about PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES. http://www.surfrider.org/makingwaves/ma ... 24-2/3.pdf

The Surfriders Foundation is a non profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves, and beaches, for all people , through conservation, activism, research, and education.

If you'd like to help support their mission, please visit their website, www.surfrider.org and become a member!!!

So, Repeat after Me.......I'll never use another plastic water bottle. It surely isn't going to be easy, but at least you now know the truth and how important it is to RECYCLE TOO! Every little bit does help! One person, one bottle, one bag at a time, it adds up quickly and makes a difference.

HAPPY EARTH DAY EVERYONE!!

I think that recycling should not be voluntary.

In January, I took some old electronics to recycle at Office Depot and no one knew what I was talking about, so they took my stuff and never charged me. About a week later, a lady called my family to say they had my cell phone. The one that was supposed to be recycled.

Doesn't surprise me. The other day I needed some cardboard to organically help control weeds in a newly mulched area in our yard, so I went to the dollar mart's cardboard bin and found that it was empty. So, I looked in the dumpster next to it, and there was all the cardboard that was supposed to be recycled. Basically, whoever was just to lazy to put it in the taller recycling dumpster. Believe it or not, but cardboard recycling is a big and profitable business.

Here's another one. I was in a Publix down in Fla. not to long ago, and the stock boy was taken all the ripe bananas off the shelf. So, I asked, "What's wrong with those"? He replied, "They don't look good enough." They were perfectly ripe (not even bruised), and the ones he was putting on the shelf were green and not even ready to eat. So I had to ask, "What are you going to do with all of them?" He said, "They get thrown away." WHAT! That's freakin ridiculous! I spoke with the store mananger right after and he said he would look into a food bank instead.

Stupidity, that is what I'm talking about! I'm not perfect, never will be, but there are people in the world starving and living in cardboard boxes.

One more! I love how some people that go to workout at a fitness center will drive around the parking lot looking for a closer parking spot.

old cell phones can be donated to womens shelters because even without service contracts they still will dial 911
