The High Country DGC @ Ashe Co. Park, in Jefferson, NC.
Home of the wild and crazy High Country ICE BOWL and POLAR PLUNGE! Sat. Feb. 21, 2009!!! And, the "THROWDOWN", a sanctioned B-tier PDGA event, July 12, 13th!!.

Course Established: 2006 Designed by. Harold Duvall and friends Built by. Todd and Wendy Patoprsty, Daniel Quin, Team Innova, Todd Lion, the Ashe Co.Parks and Rec. staff, and a few others here and there.

It just might become one of the best courses in the world? Nestled on the backside of Phoenix Mountain in the beautiful and senic Appalachian Mountains, the new Ashe Co. Park course is an extremely cool disc golf experience that offers a little bit of everything. It's both FUN and challenging with hills and thills, nice views, water hazards and other OB's.

They're are actually 20 holes, and a practice basket. 18+ holes w/ Pro and Amauteur tee areas (natural & rubber) *concrete is in the master plan.

Total par ranges from 57 to 60+ (all depending on the basket positions)

Distances........

Hole 1 Par 3 Pro > 402 ft. Am > 204 ft.
Hole 2 Par 3 Pro > 363 ft. Am > 267 ft.
Hole 3 Par 3 Pro > 414 ft. Am > 222 ft.
Hole 4 Par 3 Pro > 342 ft. Am > 297 ft.
Hole 5 Par 3 Pro > 324 ft. Am > 249 ft.
Hole 6 Par 3 Pro > 258 ft. Am > 171 ft.
Hole 7 Par 3 Pro > 346 ft. Am > 252 ft.
Hole 8 Par 4 Pro > 443 ft. Am > 381 ft.
Hole 9 Par 4 Pro > 660 ft. Am > 555 ft.
Hole 10 Par 3 Pro > 235 ft. Am > 184 ft.
Hole 11 Par 4 Pro > 470 ft. Am > 268 ft.
Hole 12 Par 3 Pro > 380 ft. Am > 270 ft.
Hole 13 Par 3 Pro > 300 ft. Am > 207 ft.
Hole 14 Par 4 Pro > 405 ft. Am > 265 ft.
Hole 15 Par 3 Pro > 324 ft. Am > 180 ft.
Hole 16 Par 3 Pro > 262 ft. Am > 164 ft.
Hole 17 Par 3 Pro > 230 ft. Am > 153 ft.
Hole 18 Par 4 Pro > 818 ft. Am > 604 ft.

We also have alternative hole's 8 and 9 (the none mtn. climb or short loop version), and several alternative basket positions that might make play at Ashe Park a little more FUN, yet confusing.

Note: This is a new course and will need time to have all the luxerious (concrete tee pads, benches, nice tee signs, etc.), So be patient or get out there and do something!

Signs should make it easy to find your way around and we should have scorecards and maps out soon this summer.

DIRECTIONS TO THE PARK

From Boone..........
Travel East (towards Wilksboro) on Hwy 421 (about 10 mins) til you come to Hwy 221 (Deep Gap area). Turn left onto Hwy 221, and travel North (towards the Jeffersons) for about 20 mins. Go straight through the first traffic light/intersection (Hwy 221 and Hwy 163). Soon after, you will come to another traffic light, and continue straight through this one as well (Ashe Co. High School, Wendy's, Auto Zone, etc. will be on right). Continue North on Hwy 221 for a couple more miles until you come to the next (3rd.) traffic light (just before you get into Jefferson). Turn left onto Long St. Long St. dead ends soon into S. Main St. (no sign, Dollar Mart Gas Station should be on your right). Turn right onto S. Main St. and continue straight through the next traffic light/intersection (Yamaha dealer on left, Carolina Printing on right). Continue on (what has now turned into N. Main St.) for another mile or so until you see the VFW sign and Ashe Co. Park sign on your left. Turn left there onto Ashe Park Rd. Go another half mile or so and you will come to Ashe Co. Park. Turn left into the park and follow the road around until you see the course kiosk in the small parking area near hole 1. Estimated travel time from Boone is 30-40 mins.

If you get out before 12 give me a call 704-860-2081. I'll meet you out there if you don't mind. I have to work at 4 so the latest I can probably start is 1.
